The 24th Pendoring Indigenous Advertising Awards was held at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Arts Centre on 31 October 2019. The annual awards celebrate creativity in the indigenous languages of South Africa.

TBWA/Hunt Lascaris received the Umpetha Award for 'The Real Cost of Being Zulu' radio campaign for City Lodge Hotels. North-West University was the overall student winner for 'Mengelmoes'.

To mark World Osteoporosis Day on 20 October, South African calcium supplement MenaCal.7 released its 'Woman to the bone' campaign. The campaign - which features leading South African women Leanne Manas, Amy Kleinhans-Curd and Refiloe Seseane - aims to raise awareness of osteoporosis as well as the role South African women play in building a strong nation.

The eighth Wild Shots Wildlife Photography Conference will be held at the Nedbank Auditorium at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on 2 November 2019. The day includes a packed programme of 12 sessions, with speakers from six countries, lunch, refreshments and finishes with a wine reception. A range of speakers are sharing their expertise on technological advancements and its impact on the world at the third annual SingularityU South Africa Summit, which is being held in Johannesburg on 16 and 17 October 2019.
