    Developing Leaders for Success

A panel discussion at the Business Schools Expo hosted by the Association of Graduate Schools of Business and Management (AGSBM) on 13 September at Gallagher Estate, will give delegates a taste of cutting edge relevant knowledge about developing leaders today and other industry issues.

Dr Sonia Swanepoel, head of TUT Business School, says: "Organisations need new competencies to take them to the next level and to realise that the only competitive edge they have, is human capital.

"The crucial point is that if we don't invest in the people, then organisations won't make it out there. In the continually changing environment both economically and environmentally, we need to be flexible and adaptable and become learning organisations."

The panel includes Azar Jammine: Chief Economist at Econometrix; Prof Eon Smit: Dean of University of Stellenbosch Business School; Greg Fisher: Senior Lecturer at GIBS, MBA graduate and entrepreneur; Prof Hellicy Ngambi: Executive Director & CEO (Interim) of UNISA Graduate School of Leadership and Johan Redelinghuys: Chairman of Heidrick and Struggles Executive Search

Mark Peters, Director of Corporate Programmes, Wits Business School, says: "What has emerged is that there is a growing need for South African managers to have international experience and ability.

"South African managers need to possess or learn specific competencies if they are to operate successfully if the global arena and if they are to operate for the benefit of their companies. The panel will touch on what these issues are."

Jonathan Cook, Director of Executive Development, Gordon Institute of Business Science says: "The panel discussion is a fine opportunity for both prospective business school students and employers to gain perspective on the broad range of issues that need to be considered to build successful leaders."

Seventeen of the top MBA-accredited Business schools nationally will be showcasing their products under one roof at the AGSBM Business School Expo at Gallagher on 13 September and at the Cape Town Convention Centre on the 26 September. Prospective students, employers, executives and anyone interested in business education is invited to attend.
