Skills training for community radio station
There are three interns from Nkqubela FM working at Algoa FM for a period of six months as part of a partnership between the stations to help boost broadcasting skills in the province. Two are working in the production studios and one is part of the news team.

Nkqubela FM is based in Zwide in the Eastern Cape and has been running for six years.
"We decided to offer internship programmes to help overcome the skills challenge in the radio industry predominantly amongst the previously disadvantaged people," says Algoa FM MD, Dave Tiltmann. "We have committed our workplace as an active learning environment and are offering training opportunities to unemployed graduates in the market place to improve their employment prospects."
All staff in the various departments at Algoa FM are keen to pass on their skills and knowledge. "Our presenters are always willing to share their expertise," says Tiltmann. "We also get a lot of grade 11's coming here for career guidance and observation."
