Free AAA workshop for 2008 matriculants next week

The AAA School of Advertising is running an open house for one week only, 26 - 30 January 2009, for potential students interested in a career in advertising but who are still uncertain as to what they should study. Anyone with an interest in advertising should grab this free opportunity to find out if this is the career for them, at no cost.

The workshop was devised in response to the realisation that many matriculants are not aware of what a career in advertising is all about. Nor are many guidance councillors well-informed of the opportunities that exist in the advertising world. As such, students are not learning about this option.

“Advertising also offers fantastic earning potential if you are prepared to work hard,” says Dr Ludi Koekemoer, principal and MD of the AAA.

“The week's workshop is ideally suited to the recent matriculants who are interested in knowing more about the ad industry [and] about how to create ads, and during the course of the week we will be demonstrating all aspects of advertising, including design and copywriting,” says Koekemoer.

The workshop will also demonstrate various exercises to assist the participants in unleashing their creative talent.

A novel student advertising initiative last year had the AAA School of Advertising asking matriculants “If you think advertising is in you, then why aren't you in advertising?” The campaign website is still relevant and those interested are encouraged to see www.itsinyou.co.za where parties can examine student and alumni work. The site also enables individuals to upload advertising, comment on and rate local advertising and work from around the world.

Anyone interested in this free workshop at AAA's Randburg campus, or a career in advertising, is invited to contact Trudie on or go to www.aaaschool.co.za.

The workshop runs Monday - Friday, 26 - 30 January, 9am - 3pm.
