Launch of inaugural Arts Alive Student Film Festival and Competition
Organised in collaboration with the Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Arts Alive, AFDA and Emzantsi Entertainment, the first annual Arts Alive Student Film Festival and Young Filmmakers Awards aim to showcase the best in international and South African student films, and to increase trade opportunities and development in the film and broadcast industry.
To be held at the Bassline, in Newtown, Johannesburg, 14 - 16 September 2006, the festival will feature exhibitions and workshops, as well as screenings of award-winning films from all over the globe, including Elalini, the South African Student Oscar award-winning Foreign Film.
There will also be a Careers in the Entertainment Industry Exhibition, where 12 career options in the industry will be showcased, from producing to musical theatre performance. The organisers believe that is it is important that more students become aware of the different careers that there are to offer because of the growth in the entertainment industry.
