NGO calls for donations to continue feeding under-resourced communities

The event, named ‘Fish with us for a purpose, to feed a mind and feed a belly’, is a fun open fishing competition fundraiser suitable for the whole family.

Prior to Covid-19, Mustadafin fed 15,000 registered beneficiaries daily. The number of beneficiaries has now increased to 27,910. Poverty, hunger and a lack of access to basic resources have increased during the pandemic, and NGOs like the Mustadafin Foundation are forging on to deal with these social disparities.

Other Mustadafin Foundation programmes include community development initiatives such as sewing classes; youth intervention programmes such as environmental and personal hygiene, Boyhood to Manhood, Girlhood to Womanhood and building confidence in youth.

The NGO also runs a healthcare initiative, where home base carers who sees to the terminal ill, creating awareness regarding HIV/Aids, TB, cancer and teenage pregnancy, and a disaster relief initiative to provide relief to those affected by natural disasters and fires.

“To realise the full potential of this fundraising event, we are calling on individuals and businesses to consider becoming a sponsor for the event,” Ghairunisa Johnstone-Cassiem, director at Mustadafin Foundation, says. "As an NPO, Mustadafin relies on the generous donations of individual and corporate donors. Joining us as a sponsor for this event, we will ensure that your generosity is acknowledged among all our attendees and stakeholders.”
