He moved to the city earlier this year, with his family, to take on this new and exciting challenge. Despite being involved in the hospitality industry for many years, he was enrolled at the "Spur University" in Cape Town for an intensive six-week training course.
"It's exciting to be involved with an international brand, which was founded in South Africa more than 45 years ago. The group's commitment to the quality and nutritional content of the meals we serve is truly inspiring," he says.
He believes in hands-on management and adds, "We want to be a home from home for the boarders and students of the town."
The Redwood Spur will also become more involved in the community, he promises. He is already sponsoring prizes for school events, and looking at ways of helping the underprivileged. During his years at the Fish River Sun, the resort achieved a platinum rating in the Heritage Environmental Program and was actively involved in a number of community projects.
