    Telkom to pay up

NEWSWATCH: Telkom has announced that it will pay the fine of R449m imposed on it last year by the Competition Tribunal, reports BD Live, and for the lively and energetic out there, Gangnam Style singer Psy's latest video has cracked 100 million views, reports IOL (video).
    Telkom to pay up

    For more:

    • BD Live: Telkom agrees to pay R449m fine... Telkom landed the fine after it was found to have made the most of its dominant position in the SA telecoms sector by, in the opinion of many consumers, ripping us all off with excessively high charges.

It would be an interesting exercise to get a definitive cost of Telkom's greed in terms of personal extra costs we all would have paid over the years between 1999 and 2004 - the period in question - and the extra costs business would have paid, and then see how that all impacted on foreign investment and domestic investment in new business ventures, employment, the cost of doing business in SA and so on.

Would anyone be surprised if it ran into billions?

Anyway, how jolly nice of Telkom to finally agree to actually pay the fine.

    • IOL: Psy's new video hits YouTube milestone... Have you joined the gang... sorry, Gangnam... yet?

Gangnam Style singer Psy's new music video has crossed the 100 million views mark on YouTube and has now had more than 105 million - and was posted only on Saturday, meaning that it's broken the record for topping the 100-million mark in record time.

That makes him a great deal more popular - and likeable - than that other performer just north of the border... you know, the "young 'un" who keeps threatening war.

Anyway, here's the video of Psy getting psyched up and going mental Gangnam Style.
