    Ster-Kinekor announces Android app

Ster-Kinekor has announced the launch of a new Android app available exclusively from the Samsung store for a three month period, after which it will be released at other Android app stores.

Developed by Prezence Digital, a full service digital agency, the app has an enhanced touch and swipe experience from viewing high-quality trailers, filtering cinemas by location and showing movie start times, browsing listings by genre right through to a seamless ticket purchasing system with interactive seating plans. Users can also update their profile, view detailed movie synopses, cast lists and enriched movie news.

CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres, Fiaz Mahomed, says, "Following the success of the launch of our first app for smart phones, we decided to further expand our range of digital assets. These assets work to bring the power of the movies right into the hands of cinema lovers. We understand that our market is increasingly interacting with online and mobile media, so it's important to invest in these platforms."

Chief technology officer of Prezence Digital, Tim Bishop adds: "With a lion's share of the film market, it is imperative for the group to provide its services across as many mediums as possible to ensure the creation of convenient platforms where consumers can interact with the brand and secure their seat to watch the latest block buster. Its mobi-first strategy, followed by real quality apps across all platforms, is the perfect route for a brand in Africa to take."

Mahomed concludes, "The launch of the Android app is another step closer to fully digitalising and mobilising the brand and customer experience."
