Luxurious Langaro
It's a picture perfect Sunday morning in Camps Bay and I'm lying down on a concrete slab in approximately 4% of clothing, being scrubbed and hosed down by a wetsuit-wearing hands-of-steel warrior. Sounds like torture? I can assure you that it's nothing like. It was a Vichy Mineral Body Scrub at the upmarket Langaro Lifestyle Centre and my wetsuit-clad warrior was massage therapist Lee.
If you haven't heard of Vichy Shower treatments yet (they're still sorta pretty new in SA) here's a basic explanation. The treatment incorporates a continuous spray of warm and cool water on the body during the exfoliation and massage, a horizontal shower is how I would best describe it. Three different affusion shower heads gently drum first your back and then front during the treatment.
I've had body exfoliation treatments before, but I can confidently say that they pale in comparison to a Vichy Shower exfoliation. I mean it just makes more sense; if using a body scrub you wanna be wet, allowing the scrub to work and moisturise to its best ability and also for rinsing the scrub off afterwards. The lovely Lee recommended a moisturising mineral scrub, which smelt amazing and left my skin feeling oh so soft and fresh.
Langaro recommends a massage treatment after the Vichy Scrub and I was more than happy to comply. After towelling off, Lee led me to another therapy room for an Exotic Ceylon Massage: a one-hour massage that de-stresses and relaxes. As mentioned earlier, Lee has steely hands, which were perfect for getting rid of those sitting-in-front-of-a-computer-all-day knots. I prefer a firmer massage and the Exotic Ceylon gives just the right amount of pressure: firm enough to feel like your body is really being fine-tuned, but gentle enough to still be enjoyable. Even though I was awake throughout the entire treatment I constantly found myself slipping in and out of a semi-conscious dream-like space. The dim lights, soft music and Lee's expert touch all contributing to a wonderfully relaxing and somnambulant experience.
I left feeling super-relaxed and rejuvenated, body loose and skin soft. I would recommend it to everyone.
Not only does Langaro offer massage treatments, the centre also houses a salon, nail studio, in-house fashion boutique, fitness programme and a conference room, making it a true one-stop shop for all your health, relaxation and beauty needs.
