Online facelift rejuvenates 5fm.co.za

Radio's 5fm Music has had its popular interactive web destination entirely overhauled to better engage with their listeners from around the globe, who have registered more than 1.2 million page impressions in the first month since redesign.

The new design turns up the volume in online interactivity and uses the very latest technology to provide a unique experience to visitors. Listeners who register will gain access to a host of exclusive benefits with the website becoming a key pillar in the way 5fm DJ's and their listeners interact in cyberspace. The 5fm DJ's refer to the website's content and features while on air, and daily website polls have given a voice to the station's national audience on both topical and fun issues.

"We pride ourselves on providing links to the best news, information and fun stuff we can find," comments 5fm's webmaster Reuben Goldberg. "We spend a lot of time searching for the freshest and phattest links out there, and that's what makes it interesting!"

Each DJ now has their own special area where they can upload information and tit-bits for their shows. This takes each show to a whole new level of interactivity and means listeners can now see pictures and get more details on highlights like Leigh-Ann's "Hottie of the day" with Nicole Fox, Ian F's Inter-office dating and the nutty antics of the breakfast team on The Mark Gillman Show, to voting for the Samsung High 5@5 with Gareth Cliff.

"A website of this calibre is essential for a station like 5fm, "says 5fm Station Manager John Langford. "Our listeners are incredibly interactive and the Internet forms part of their daily routine. The new website allows us to communicate with our audience instantly and actively, while also performing the vital function of allowing listeners to interact with each other - a whole new element to the exciting role of radio in South Africa."

In addition, listeners can also get yourself a free 5fm webmail account, find true love with the 5fm dating service and once registered on 5fm.co.za, users elevate themselves to online VIP status. Listeners receive special 5fm email and sms newsletters making sure they're the first inline to enter competitions online and win bonus prizes.

Feedback is an important component as listeners surfing online can chat away on the new 5fm music discussion forum, as well as rate the music they hear on the station and current movie releases, helping the team at 5fm stay in tune with the tastes of their listeners.
