The station also announced that it is searching for Shongwe's replacement.
According to a press release issued by marketing manager Louisa van Wyk, “Shongwe's departure is a great loss to the station. She was one of our great on-air talents and besides her sparkling personality she was an inspiration to all at the radio station. We will miss her constant smile.
“Her ambitions have always been more inclined to a corporate setting and she has now been given an opportunity to enter that world with a dynamic company in Johannesburg.”
Commented Shongwe, “My time at MPower FM was empowering. I'm honoured that I was chosen to be part of such a dynamic team and am very grateful that listeners invited us into their lives every weekday.”
Desiree Mahlunga, who left the station late last year, will be returning on 2 February in the 12 noon - 3pm slot.
