Buyi Shongwe quits MPowerFM

Buyi Shongwe has resigned from MPowerFM and is heading to Johannesburg to join the corporate world, the station announced yesterday, Tuesday, 13 January 2009. Shongwe, who was recently crowned second princess in the Miss SA beauty competition, co-hosted the PM Drive Show with David Watts.
The station also announced that it is searching for Shongwe's replacement.

According to a press release issued by marketing manager Louisa van Wyk, “Shongwe's departure is a great loss to the station. She was one of our great on-air talents and besides her sparkling personality she was an inspiration to all at the radio station. We will miss her constant smile.

“Her ambitions have always been more inclined to a corporate setting and she has now been given an opportunity to enter that world with a dynamic company in Johannesburg.”

Commented Shongwe, “My time at MPower FM was empowering. I'm honoured that I was chosen to be part of such a dynamic team and am very grateful that listeners invited us into their lives every weekday.”

Desiree Mahlunga, who left the station late last year, will be returning on 2 February in the 12 noon - 3pm slot.

Radio supo
Another one out of the door-
I just don`t understand how a station with so much potential is losing people. They recently lost their GM and PM- and a long list of presenters. Last year I read a press release that said that all was good at the station, this is after the City Press article that claimed that everyone is leaving. Is it not strange that Bondo Ntuli who refuted claims that the station was losing personnel has also left the station. I have listened to the station and thought it had potential, I listened to the morning show, Queenie and Meo, I still remember them from Kaya. They still had their spunk and jokes and if they are still there that means there must be something at Mpower. If not hopefully they won`t die out in Mpumalanga. Good luck to Buyi, never got hear you on radio, but you look hot so good luck
