5FM delivers Cape Town into the New Year

The 5FM/Savanna "Got Change for a Million?" New Year's Control Centre will close off a street in Cape Town CBD on 31 December 2006 from 7pm in preparation for celebrating South Africa's first millionaire for 2007 at midnight. Apart from the celebrations inside the clubs and outside, 5FM will also be broadcasting all the party action live from the venue until 1am on New Year's Day.

In conjunction with Chrome and Café Miam Miam, permission has been obtained from the city council to close Pepper Street for the New Year's Eve celebration featuring DJ Fresh, Roger Goode, Nicole Fox, Goldfish live on stage and more.

From 30 October, listeners have been entering the "Got Change for a Million?" competition via SMS; a record-breaking 300 000 SMSs have been received - monitored and confirmed by independent auditors, says the radio station. The finalists from each of the regional parties (three in total) will be competing at this New Year's Eve party for millionaire-status; Cape Town's regional party took place this past weekend, with Johannesburg and Durban coming up this Friday (15 December) and next Saturday (23 December) respectively.

On New Year's Eve, the three finalists will be required to go through various exciting and intense challenges at the party to select the one that really needs 5 to make a million. Apart from gold briefcases guarded by Godfather-style bodyguards, tricky locks, gold coins and mystery envelopes, - the two top finalists will also be required to go on helicopter trips across Cape Town to locate the ultimate clues for winning R999 995.

The full DJ line-up for the party is:
