Safmarine's regional offices and management in Cape Town, Dubai, Shanghai and Mumbai will be closed although the South African branch offices will remain in operation. Maersk Line chief executive Eivind Kolding says that the internal support and management functions of Safmarine will be integrated into Maersk.
The Journal of Commerce says Safmarine chief executive Tomas Dyrbye will leave the company. It says the merger will not affect Safmarine's multi-purpose shipping operations.
