Internet price war continues to grow

The price war among telecommunications companies supplying broadband connections is continuing to rage with Telkom, MTN and iBurst all offering upgraded internet connections to clients in an effort to improve market share.

Telkom's Do Broadband range of products has removed restrictions on data volumes after it had upgraded its customers for the past three months by effectively doubling the restricted volumes that they had previously paid for.

The New Age quotes Telkom's executive of converged business services as saying that the company had observed industry trends and analysed data usage patterns and developed an uncapped product for the market.

MTN has launched unlimited and uncapped speed options using the HSPA+ service at a cost of R289 a month.

iBurst has introduced new packages that start at R49 a month for 1GB and extend to 50GB at a cost of R445 a month.
