IT Data Architect

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced IT Data Architect to join a leading organisation based in Sandton. This role is ideal for a data professional who is passionate about designing modern data platforms, driving cloud transformation initiatives, and delivering scalable data solutions that enable business growth and innovation.

As the IT Data Architect, you will play a key role in defining and executing enterprise data strategy, leading cloud migration projects, and building robust Azure-based data architectures within the insurance sector.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance Azure data platforms.
• Lead cloud modernization and legacy system migration initiatives.
• Develop enterprise data models that support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence requirements.
• Drive data governance, data quality, master data management, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers, and data teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Establish and promote data architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices.
• Support advanced analytics, automation, and cloud innovation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy requirements.

Minimum requirements and technical environment

• Relevant degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of enterprise data architecture experience, with expertise in Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
• 5+ years of experience within the Insurance industry.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Azure-based cloud and hybrid data solutions using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data integration, and enterprise data management using Cosmos DB and Dataverse.
• Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, POPIA, GDPR, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Microsoft Azure certifications will be advantageous.

The reference number for this position is NG61435 which is a permanent, Hybrid role in Sandton, Johannesburg offering a salary of up to R1.25mil per annum salary negotiable based on experience.
