South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, has officially endorsed this appointment of Prof Ebrahim. The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation has issued him with an identity card which accords him with diplomatic immunity and other privileges.
An ecstatic Prof Ebrahim commented, "I consider it a great honour to serve the country of my birth. It’s a great opportunity to be promoting tourism, trade and education between Seychelles and South Africa."
