Arts projects receive development grants

The recently approved Arts and Culture Trust Development Grants support one literature, two music projects and the development of new work. The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) Board of Trustees selected Babbel by Nicola Hanekom, the Limpopo Youth Orchestra, the Mpumalanga Flute Academy and the Botshabelo Youth Partnership for ACT Development Programme support.

"ACT strives to attract and provide funding for the sustainable development and growth of arts, culture and heritage in South Africa, actualised through mutually beneficial partnerships between the corporate, public and cultural sectors focused on making a positive difference to the lives of all South Africans. The Development Programme is a cornerstone of ACT's grant-making strategy and contributes to the fulfilment of ACT's mission," says ACT general manager, Pieter Jacobs.

Bank donates at no cost

Since 1994 Nedbank Arts Affinity donated more than R10 million to ACT for the support of arts, culture and heritage in South Africa. When clients use the Nedbank Arts Affinity banking and investment products, the bank makes a donation to ACT at no cost to the client. These donations are disbursed through the ACT Development Programme which makes provision for all expressions of art and is focused on the development of new South African work, youth development and professional development.

"With the support from our Arts Affinity clients we are proud to be able to announce a new set of arts and culture projects. We will continue to create opportunities and build partnerships with the art community and give them the support they need in contributing towards our cultural rich society," says head of Nedbank Cause Marketing, Maseda Ratshikuni.
