African and UK creatives to gather for three-day Joburg event
The British Council Connect ZA initiative, Connect ZA Creative Futures, will bring exciting new creative talent together in one city to create an experiential exchange of knowledge, practice and creativity. Young innovators and practitioners have been selected from the design, music, digital, performance and photography fields to take part in the gathering. Featured creatives will be announced shortly.
British Council Connect ZA head of arts Tom Porter said that we are keen to see greater connections and networks arise from UK creatives and their contemporaries in Africa, and Connect ZA Creative Futures is part of that ambition. "We're excited to share the new creative energy of Johannesburg with this group of innovators."
Free open events
The festival will take place in various venues and spaces around Braamfontein from Wednesday, 10 to Friday, 12 September, 2014. There will be invitation-only creative industry events and free open events plus a live music party, which will close the festival.
Connect ZA Creative Futures will also connect with the creatives leading up to the gathering with a series of Twitterviews and Instagram takeovers hosted @Connect_ZA @LiveMagSA #creativefutures.
Connect ZA Creative Futures is a British Council Connect ZA initiative in association with Live SA and part of the Fak'ugesi Digital Africa Festival. More details will be announced shortly at www.creativefuturesza.com and http://connectza.tumblr.com.
