Songwriters wanted for online competition

You can create and record your own original song, or you can co-write by using any of the initial four Sydney “collaboration songs” on the site. You are able to download the backing tracks of these songs (eg drums, bass, keyboards etc.) and use the elements to write and record your own song. Use the entire backing track or any of the individual instruments of any of the songs in any way, plus you can add your own instrumentation to create a suitable backing track for your song.

If you do not have your own music production software, CityLove provides a time-limited free trial version of Steinberg's “Sequel 2” application as a download. You also have an option to download Sequel 2 Packages with the backing tracks embedded, so that you can record vocals and mix your finished product, or you can use Sequel 2 trial to produce your own recording without using the stems.

Once you've finished creating your song, upload the recording to the CityLove site, where members of the public will be able to listen and vote for their favourite. The site provides widgets so you can post links to vote for your CityLove song from your MySpace, Facebook or Twitter pages, or your own website.

Song with the most votes

On completion of the challenge, the song with the most votes will receive a guaranteed cash prize of USD10 000. In addition, the top songs from each country/city could be released for sale as digital compilations, with the songwriters and singers sharing in all future revenue that is generated from their recordings or songs - via CD sales, downloads or licensing of the works for any commercial purposes.

Anyone who wants to make a video can register, download a song, upload their video to YouTube, and upload their YouTube link to CityLove Music. The video with the most votes will receive a guaranteed cash prize of USD5000.
