Emmanuel Jal to release free download for charity

Emmanuel Jal is releasing a new single, called We Fall, and will be making it available for free download. He is asking that those who do so make a donations to the charity Gua Africa.

As a sneak peek into his fourth album due in 2010, Emmanuel Jal is releasing a new single this winter. The track called We Fall, produced by Silvastone, featuring a soaring-soulful vocalist, McKenzie Eddy and guitarist Sean O'Connell of Brooklyn-based Voodoo Farm, will be up on Jal's MySpace page on 2 December 2009.

As a gift to his fans around the world, the musician will make the song available to download from www.myspace.com/emmanueljal free of charge.

The download will serve as a two-way favour between Jal and the supporters of his music and activism.

A thank you

"I am releasing this song as a free download to say thank you to everyone who donated to Gua Africa," he said. "Everyone who listens and enjoys it can also go to www.gua-africa.org and donate."

It will be exactly a year to the day on 2 December since Jal started his challenging fast; the artist is eating one meal a day in an attempt to raise funds for Gua Africa or, more specifically, for the charity's school-building project in Leer, South Sudan. Phase one of the project, which includes renovation of the existing primary school and construction of five extra classrooms, has begun.

Posting the song on MySpace presents an easy way to track the number of downloads, and has a potential to create a buzz in the mainstream, the musician said.
