Young stars release track
Three talented youngsters who won the Coca-Cola Summer Yama SummAHHH talent search have released a single - Summer Yama SummAHHH and have secured an album deal too.
Spearheaded by Coca-Cola and respected South African music and theatre pioneer Lebo M, the campaign has seen Mzansi's hottest young singing talent compete for a shot at fame. The nationwide music search, aimed at unearthing fresh new talent, has culminated in the selection of three sizzling teenage sensations: Jabulane Gambu from Bloemfontein; Bianca Erasmus, also from Bloemfontein; and Neliswa Chitha from Port Elizabeth.
Hand-picked trio
The trio, hand-picked by Lion King luminary Lebo M, as well as music industry stalwarts Musa Mhlongo and Lumkile Ngcewa - following a rigorous audition and selection process - were immediately whisked away to the recording studio where they recorded what is set to become this summer's hottest track: the irresistibly catchy Summer Yama SummAHHH.
The song hit the airwaves on 15 October and has since been setting radios around the country ablaze, and a music video featuring the winning trio has been shot and will premiere on national television on 9 November 2009.
One-album deal
The three victorious singers also feature on the Coca-Cola Summer Yama SummAHHH compilation CD, which has just been released by Gallo. In addition, they have scored a one-album record deal through Till Dawn Records.
"Summer Yama SummAHHH with Lebo M is about uncovering, nurturing and developing the future musicians in the country," said Zayd Abrahams, Coca-Cola's head of marketing: sparkling category.
"The three winners epitomise the spirit of optimism, positivity and fun that perfectly reflects the Open Happiness campaign, while their fresh talent and innovative style have been recognised by the best in the music industry," he added.
Free digital downloads of the track are available on www.coke.co.za, and fans can keep up to date with the campaign on Coca-Cola's Twitter and Facebook pages.
