Lagos prepares for MAMA Awards preview

Road to MAMA - Nigeria, will spotlight Nigerian artists M.I., El Dee and Wande Coal, with a live set from special guest, South African hip hop maverick, HHP. MTV base and Zain will convert the entire Jade Palace building into a two-level super club for a night of the biggest non-stop beats from Nigeria's top DJs and performances from some of Africa's own superstars.

Opportunity to see nominees

This will be a great opportunity for Nigerian music fans to see 2009 MAMA nominees M.I., Wande Coal and HHP perform in the flesh, before the trio go up against the continent's best musicians at the MAMA main show in Nairobi on 10 October. Between them, the trio account for a total of six nominations in this year's battle for the coveted MAMA “golden microphone” trophy, with HHP garnering three “nods” from the MAMAs Academy (Best Male, Artist of the Year, and Best Video), M.I. revelling in two nominations (Best New Act and Best Hip Hop) and Wande Coal up for Best Group as part of his other gig with the Mo' Hits Allstars.

Also helping to keeping the party vibe at maximum velocity will also be DJ Midas, DJ Neptune and DJ Humility, plus other guest DJs, to be announced shortly.

Tickets for Road to MAMA - Nigeria are available at selected local Zain shops and at Soul Lounge, Palms Shopping Mall, Lekki; The Place, Isaac John Street, Ikeja and Volar Bar & Cafe, Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island. The price tag on the ticket is 5000 NGN (five thousand Naira).
