Eight hours of metal at WinterFest'15
Featuring an eight-hour blast from a careful selection of the city's top-dog metal bands alongside some of the newest, the most interesting, or even just outright strange, the gathering has grown into the most popular of heavy metal events in the region.
Headlining the show are Cape Town's metal mammoth, Mind Assault, alongside thrash titans Infanteria. Both bands enjoy impressive track records spanning roughly a decade. Mind Assault have performed alongside some of the world's best, including joining the US' Lamb Of God on tour in South Africa last year. Infanteria went on to represent South Africa in an international battle of the bands at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival in Germany two years ago.
Other participating bands include the likes of Port Elizabeth's Mezzanine Floor, the Afrikaans-only Beeldenstorm, all-girl act Junkyard Lisptick and others. The Assembly will open it's doors as early as 5pm with live music beginning from 6pm until late. Entry costs R90 for nine bands, and besides bar refreshments, a gourmet food truck will be in operation plus other stalls offering weird and wonderful hand-crafted accessories.
