South African designers fight back
Winter is certainly fashion season, with consumers currently inundated with Durban Fashion Week, Cape Town Fashion Week and eventually South African Fashion Week.
Due to the ever-present politics which started years ago when CTFW was born, to be followed by DFW and who knows where next, designers showing at these provincial shows are restricted from showing at SAFW. This year a group of high-profile Cape Town designers will be ambushing the SAFW and holding their own show right opposite the home of SAFW, and Sandton Convention Centre, with their activities being projected onto an adjacent building.
This group of renegades, which includes Malcolm Kluk and Christian Gabriel du Toit, needs the nominal support of a brand willing to associate themselves with free-thinking fashion and breaking the rules. For more information please contact
