2014 Foschini Fashion Design Award finalists

The six finalists of the 2014 Foschini Fashion Design Awards have been selected by the judges, with public vote from the Foschini website and stand at Design Indaba, counting towards a percentage of the total.

The finalists are Emily Hellens, Frances Pauls, Jade Rea, Sané Bosman, Sthandiwe Khumalo, and Zandalee Broodryk. Votes were for their exhibition outfits, inspired by the theme "From Bauhaus to Boho" and which reflected their unique design style.

The Foschini creative team also directed a fashion shoot with the outfits, using top international models. The designers get to keep these images on disc and can incorporate them in their creative portfolios going forward.

The finalists now have to create a collection of three ready-to-wear outfits based on the same theme as their exhibition garment, but this year there is a twist: they've each been given three metres of black pleather which they have to incorporate into each garment. Based on this collection, the three winners will be selected and announced at the awards ceremony in May.
