Blue Route Mall enters second phase of demolition

The second phase of demolition at the Blue Route Mall in Tokai will start on 7 July 2010, with the demolition of the back portion of the centre, affecting a number of stores in this area. Trading space at the mall will consequently decrease from 48 351m² to 36 356m².

"It is important that we ensure that the mall and our tenants remain accessible to our patrons," says Wendy Radford, Blue Route Mall centre manager from Broll Property Management. "Most of our tenants, including Woolworths, Checkers, Foschini, Truworths, FNB, Nedbank, Standard Bank and others will continue to trade during this period."

Additional retail space at Entrance 2 has been constructed and will house Incredible Connection, Vodacom and Ackermans. FNB will now be situated on the exterior of the centre, next to the ATMs. Various shops are currently being relocated within the centre, to accommodate the phase two changes.

"During phase two of construction, parking will remain at almost 1000 bays until mid 2011," she adds. "Centre management encourages customers to park at the back of the centre and has allowed entry into the centre from this point."
