'To the airport, James...'

'... and put the foot down a bit.'
'To the airport, James...'

What is more stressful than waiting for a family member or friend crazy enough to agree to take you to the airport for a pre-dawn flight and then turns up late? Such requests already stretch the boundaries of friendship, so there is no chance of a proper dressing down and venting of anger when you're finally delivered to the airport, too late to meet your plane.

In the context of therapy sessions to deal with your unexpressed rage, a luxury chauffeur transfer doesn't seem that costly. Quoted in three-hour tranches, you can get to the airport or anywhere else within a 150km radius in a Jaguar XJ6, for example, for R1850.

Earning bragging rights is also cheap, at the price. You want your school buddies at the reunion to think you've really made it, arrive chauffeur-driven in the BMW X6 for just R2350 or to create the impression you've just returned from your bush lodge, the Range Rover Sport for R2500.

Hmmm... what about a Hummer?

For the super skittish or those visiting South Africa for the first time and terrified out of their wits, two armoured cars are available: a BMW X5 4.4i for R8500 or, for the same price, a Hummer H3. If you have driver James, as we did to and from the airport, you'll be super pleased to know that not only is he trained in first aid if things get rough, but as a former cash-in-transit driver, he is also probably the best person to keep you alive and out of trouble.

If you'd rather drive yourself, you can have the Audi R8 for R9500! Although a company named Cape Luxury Cars isn't about to offer budget rides, you could probably spend your marketing budget more cleverly on a stretch limo and a day in the winelands with four key people in the vehicle and serious face time than a party for 20 which would probably cost more. It also works out to be less than R250 per person for a 12-people mover for a day drinking wine.
