New GM for Hilton Durban
Hilton Worldwide has appointed Mohamed Hamza as the new general manager for Hilton Durban. The position had been held by Gerhard Patzer, who has decided to retire.
"Mohamed has been an important member of our team for more than 20 years, and I look forward to the contributions he will undoubtedly make as the new general manager for Hilton Durban," said Jean-Paul Herzog, president, Hilton Worldwide, Middle East & Africa
Hamza joins the 327-room Hilton Durban after working as general manager for the pre-opening set-up of the Hilton Doha in Qatar. He also played an important role in supporting the food and beverage function for other pre-opening hotels in the Middle East & Africa. His career with Hilton began in 1990 at the Hilton Basingstoke in the UK.
He takes over from Gerhard Patzer, who has played a pivotal role in running Hilton Durban's very successful operation.
Herzog said, "Gerhard has been integral to the success and development of Hilton Durban and we are sad to see him go. We are grateful for the contributions he has made during his time with us and wish him well in his retirement."
Hamza was born in the U.A.E. and has travelled extensively throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a master's degree in business administration and is fluent in Arabic and English.
