Qatar will launch to South America on 24 June 2010
The airline has daily flights from Johannesburg and four weekly flights from Cape Town to its hub in Doha and, from there, will provide connectivity to the Brazilian city, Sao Paulo and Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.
Doha is fast becoming the most popular travel hub in the world, with Qatar Airways connecting from there onto 86 diverse cities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia and North America. An additional benefit to South Africans using Doha as a transit hub, is not needing transit visas, giving increased affordability and convenience.
New aircraft
The airline's two brand new Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft will be deployed on the two South American routes in June.
The date announcement comes just weeks after the airline revealed plans to serve South America, and spread its wings to yet another continent. The flights will offer convenient connections from key markets across Asia and the Gulf to South America.
Departures and arrivals
Flight QR921 will depart Doha International Airport daily at 7.40am arriving in Sao Paulo at 4pm. The flight continues on to Buenos Aires, arriving at 8.05. Return flight QR922 departs daily from Buenos Aires at 11.05pm to Sao Paulo before continuing its journey at 3.10am the next day, arriving in Doha at 11.10pm.
Qatar Airways will be the only five-star-ranked airline operating daily to South America with the launch of the new flights.
