The 13th annual Feather Awards took place at the Market Theatre in downtown Johannesburg on 12 November, delivering its trademark blend of exquisite fashion, colourful entertainment, witty commentary and killer live performances.

The entrance to the Market Theatre was transformed into a pink floral wonderland, with Pink Carpet hosts Rorisang Thandekiso, Zanele Potelwa and Ayanda Makuzeni welcoming guests as they entered the precinct. The fashion moments turned the house down in this year's theme Solid and Fabulous.

Award hosts Lumko Johnson alongside Penny Lebyane, Ditshego Ditsego and Zizo Tshwete kept the audience entertained for the 3-hour long ceremony. Live performances by Tamara Dey, Amstel, Lady Du and Holly Rey alongside the Mzansi Gay Choir brought the roof down.

“Now in our 13th year, the main reason for hosting these awards during this trying period in our community, is as always to continue celebrating life. More importantly in 2021 we are also celebrating queer lives because we as a community matter. Tonight we celebrated diversity and inclusion for all,” said Feathers co-founder Thami Kotlolo. As always post the awards, the work still goes go on. The ongoing LGBTIQ+ dialogues across the country continues to give the community a voice.
