Hilton Durban welcomes new executive head chef
Hilton Durban has recently welcomed a new executive head chef to its hospitality team, Herbert Thierse.
With over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Thierse joins the team at Hilton Durban having previously held the position as executive head chef at Eko Hotels and Suites in Nigeria.
He will head up the property's kitchen and will be responsible for hiring and training new staff, monitoring team performance; product quality and production flow, as well as create and introduce new menus.
Thierse has extensive experience in the hospitality industry having worked at various hotels across the globe including the Philippines, Cambodia and Germany. Mohamed Hamza, general manager at the Hilton Durban says, "Herbert brings a wealth of experience to our culinary team and we are delighted with the training and skills that he can provide."
He has a Masters Degree from the International Culinary School in Heidelberg, Germany. He speaks fluent German, English, French and Spanish and lives with his wife in Durban.
