Winter specials at The Grand Café & Beach
Seelan Sundoo has created a selection of dishes to entice the senses this chilly season, combining traditional South African favourites, such as oxtail, lamb and chicken roast, with some more exotic additions to the menu including duck a l'orange, mushroom risotto, ossobucco and the chef's signature bouillabaisse.
Alongside the winter roast special, the Grand Cafe & Beach invites families to bring their children to enjoy a complementary signature pizza with any main meal ordered off the menu.
Shadow of the Cape Town stadium
"We wish to invite locals as well as visiting international guests to join us for an elegant winter experience within the magnificent shadow of the Cape Town stadium. At the same time we aim to create a family-friendly environment where casual glamour meets cosy decadence," said GM, Tom Jager.
In celebration of the Grand Cafe & Beach inaugural winter, the restaurant will also be opening its doors seven days a week, starting with the Grand breakfast: a home-made pizza base topped with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon and eggs, at 9.30am.
"As our first winter of operation we wish to create a very special atmosphere to add to our already eclectic style. The enchanting features of iconic 1920's Hollywood movies present the perfect match," added Jager.
Golden era of classic Hollywood
Inspired by the great golden era of classic Hollywood, the Grand's winter decor will include golden antique frames displaying the winter specials as well as vintage black-and-white movies and subtle jazz tunes as backdrops, channelling the spirit of this era.
The beach boy of the Grand's collection, the Grand Cafe & Beach presents a unique venue for guests to come and indulge in the pleasure of a world-class menu, while the Grand's original foot-long pizzas and wide stretch of private white beach are ideally matched to entertain the kids, leaving the more mature at heart to sink their toes into the sand.
