FrenchSunset pop-up picnic back in Cape Town

The frenchSunset pop-up picnic returns to Cape Town on Saturday, 5 March 2016 at the Glenellen Farm in Hout Bay.

FrenchSunset is not an average pop-up picnic. Think of it as an escape to sunny, sweet Paris without the hassle of boarding a plane. A true French experience with a Mzansi twist, this impromptu shindig offers you a day out in the beautiful Cape with mouthwatering delicacies, live music, comedy, poetry, cooking demos and so much more.

Dress theme: The dress theme for the event is blue, white and red (colours of France's flag) and attendees are invited to dress the part - whether it's one colour, two or even all three.

Picnic baskets: While ticket holders are encouraged to bring it their own picnic baskets, they will each, upon arrival, receive a frenchSunset welcome basket including authentic imported French cheeses, a French baguette, a bottle of one of SA's finest wines and French jams.

Entertainment: Entertainment includes a string of amazing, yet diverse, talents throughout the day with live performances by:

• Comedian Siv Ngesi as the event's host;
• Poet Kyle Louw;
• Acoustic Elements;
• French singer Savannah;
• Mapumba and band;
• Soul Power Circus Band;
• DJ Didier; and
• DJ Ozy. More to be confirmed

A brand new addition to this year's line-up is a cooking demonstration led by two French chefs. The Cape Town-based Nadège Lepoittevin-Dassé (www.nadegecuisine.co.za) will give you tips on how to be a master in your own kitchen while she cooks up a culinary storm. Executive pastry chef to France's dignitaries Kamel Hamzaoui heads especially to the Mother City for this occasion to demonstrate some of his sweet pastry skills.

Movie screening: After the sun sets, a short movie will be screened so pack in something warm for if the weather turns.

Kids corner: As a family-friendly event (kids younger than 15 get in for free) there is a kiddies corner with a jumping castle and plenty of fun activities.

Stand a chance to win a ticket for two to Paris. By entering a raffle at the event, attendees stand a chance to win prizes donated by the event's sponsors (Lacoste, La Grenadine Hotel, Desert Rose) as well as the Grand prize of a trip to Europe for two courtesy of Air France. Raffle Entry is R30.

Tickets: Tickets to frenchSunset can be bought via www.frenchsunset.co.za or Computicket. Attendees can either opt for a seat at one of the large, lengthwise communal tables (bring your own décor to create a festive feel) or find a spot on the expansive greens to set up their own pocket of pleasure.
