From 8 - 10 October 2009, guests to the showings will enjoy the first glimpse of the summer ranges from designers such as Black Coffee, I Love Leroy, Two, Abigail Betz, Lunar and Ruby, as well as the much-anticipated return to the runway by Cape Town's David West.

Said V&A Waterfront Executive Manager: Strategic Marketing, Chantelle Kidd: “We are delighted with the collaboration with Sanlam SA Fashion Week Cape Town Collections. Cape Town, and ultimately the V&A Waterfront, has positioned itself as a world-class fashion hub where new style trends continuously emerge from top local designers, as evidenced by our incredible local offering. With the V&A Waterfront being the country's number one tourist destination, there could be no more fitting a venue at which to showcase the best of what SA's newest fashion talent has to offer.

“We are particularly pleased that so many fresh designers will be showing their ranges - the V&A Waterfront has over the years become the perfect platform from which to launch new enterprises and this fits in perfectly within that vision.”

“The V&A Waterfront provides the ideal backdrop against which to show off the best of South African Fashion, said Lucilla Booyzen of Sanlam SA Fashion Week. “A truly inspirational setting, the V&A Waterfront combines elements of glamour, fashion, business and natural beauty, making it the perfect venue for Sanlam SA Fashion Week”.

The designers featured in the Sanlam SA Fashion Week Cape Collections are among the best the country has to offer. Each of them has their own successful label, available at outlets around Cape Town, and in many cases they have partnered with women in rural or poor communities which has contributed local job creation.

Each show will culminate in an after-party at a top V&A Waterfront venue, the first of which (8 October) will take place at the One and Only Hotel. Further details regarding after-parties will be available at www.waterfront.co.za.
