Best Dressed Man added to L'Ormarins fashion list
Spectators at the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate on 11 January, 2014, at Kenilworth Racecourse, Cape Town will be competing for Best Hat, Best Dressed Lady and, for the first time, Best Dressed Man honours.
Adjudicating the prestigious competitions will be haute couture heavyweights: Glamour SA's fashion editor, Bronwyn Day; Marie Claire SA's junior fashion editor, Bee Diamondhead; KLûK CGDT founders and designers Malcolm Klûk and Christiaan Gabriel du Toit; and Merchants on Long's creative director, Tammy Tinker.
Added panache
"The L'Ormarins Queen's Plate never fails to deliver some of the finest fashion of the season - with top designers and revered style icons getting involved every year. We are excited to finally be giving the nod to our male guests, whose suave style has always added panache to this event," said 2014 co-ordinator of The L'Ormarins Queen's Plate, Katherine Gray.
Race-goers will compete in the style stakes for prizes including a R5000 V&A Waterfront voucher (Best Dressed Man), a KLûK CGDT dress (Best Dressed Lady), Little Hattery hats and fascinators (Best Hat), Cartier fragrances, RIKKIS Taxis vouchers and wine hampers.
"The L'Ormarins Queen's Plate is one of the highlights of the spring/ summer style season every year and it is always exciting to see how race-goers interpret the blue-and-white theme. Flowing lines and deep V-necks will abound this year and the ethereal angel dress is bound to make an appearance. Of course, we would be remiss if we didn't expect a few pleasant surprises too," said Malcolm Klûk.
