Heart of Sand at the Artscape

‘Heart of Sand: the Lorca Project' is a dance-interpretation of Federico Garcia Lorca's poetry set in contemporary South Africa, bringing Lorca's timeless and universal images to the stage through the powerful art of dance, drama and song. The selection of poems chosen relate to man's relationship with land, a relationship that is constantly being questioned in today's Africa through debates surrounding land reform initiatives. The emotional responses around these issues are illustrated in the form of song, dance, drama and the simple reading of Lorca's poems.
