KZN co-op wins SAB prize
The R100 000 prize in the 2009 South African Breweries (SAB) KickStart Entrepreneurial Development Programme competition has been won by a KwaZulu-Natal co-op.
Dubazana is pictured with Nrs Hepsey Mthungu, SA Breweries Head of Transportation and Yokesh Maharaj, SAB East Coast Region general manager.
Sibusiso Dubazana of the Igula Agricultural Co-operative, a farming co-operative in Uthungulu, will use his money to buy fixed assets so his business can continue to expand.
He said that the demand for poultry, fresh vegetables and goats in the Ubuka traditional area gave him the idea to start the co-operative to satisfy the needs of his community and he got the business underway in 2007.
The co-op now offers these products to a wide customer network.
