MPowerFM and BHP Billiton teamed up to make a difference to the lives of 40 children in Mpumalanga. Listeners had to send their Dare to Care nominations to MPowerFM, and this morning two of the forty dreams were made a reality.
The first recipient is four year-old Wihan du Toit from Middelburg. Wihan is blind, and MPowerFM and BHP Billiton will now provide the necessary equipment to allow his unemployed mother, Charmaine, to home-school him.
The second wish granted was to 15 year-old Nosihle Precious Maseko from Masihambisane Combined school at Kanyamazane. She was orphaned three years ago, and has been dependant on the generosity of fellow pupils to equip her for school.
MPowerFM marketing manager, Louisa van Wyk, says this project has been a heart-warming one. “It feels great to give back to a community that has taken MPowerFM into their homes and hearts. The life-blood of any company, and especially a radio station, is to be involved in and make a difference to communities we serve,” says Van Wyk.
