Friedrich Lindenberg to talk at Hacks Hackers Cape Town

Hacks Hackers Cape Town has managed to organise data scraper and data journalism champion, Friedrich Lindenberg, to talk to delegates this Friday evening, 14 September 2012 from 5.30pm-8pm.

Google has offered to open its new technology lab, Umbono, in Woodstock as a venue for meet up. It is on 4th Floor, Woodstock Industrial Centre, 66 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town.

Lindenberg will not only give delegates an insight into what's happening in data journalism around the world, but will also share some easy tips and ideas that even non-techies can use to stay ahead of the curve.

African News Innovation Challenge (ANIC) manager, Justin Arenstein, will also be there to chat about the 40 finalists that have just been shortlisted for a share of the US$1 million in seed funding that is being offered. The finalists include a number of journalist-led projects from Cape Town.

He will also speak briefly about a programme of free training that is being unrolled for South African journos, as well as plans to kick-start data journalism in local newsrooms.
