Food for the soul at Standard Bank Joy of Jazz

The opening of this year's Joy of Jazz was spectacular with performances by Wynton Marsalis and Gauteng Jazz Orchestra, featuring African Soul Sisters.
Food for the soul at Standard Bank Joy of Jazz

The headline act was Wynton Marsalis, a legendary and versatile jazz performer - he could easily be described as a trumpeter, a composer, a bandleader, an advocate for the arts, and an educator. He's also the Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. To date, he has released over 40 jazz and classical albums.

Primedia Outdoor attended the opening on the 25th of August at Emperor's Palace accompanied by VIP guests and their partners. One of their guests was Kgabo Badimo from Spescom, pictured enjoying the music.

The twelfth annual Standard Bank Joy of Jazz was held at various venues around Johannesburg with a mixture of local and international acts performing throughout the weekend. Local artists included the legendary Hugh Masekela; Sibongile Khumalo; Madlingozi; Simphiwe Dana; African Jazz Pioneers; Gauteng Jazz Orchestra; Julius Schultz; Kwela Tebza; Mango Groove; McCoy Mrubata; Tu Nokwe; Tutu Puoane; and Victor Ntoni.

Special thanks to all our guests.
