Event industry leader appointed to Johannesburg Board of Tourism

Since Ashwin started The Event Production Company ten years ago, she has conceptualized, managed and produced events ranging from small, intimate functions to massive conferences and productions like the opening ceremony for The World Summit on Sustainable Development.

Says Ashwin: "To have the opportunity to assist in positioning Johannesburg as a tourism destination in a class by itself is extraordinary. We've yet to tap all the opportunities for stimulating tourism to Johannesburg—the possibilities are exponential."

Earlier this year, Ashwin represented The Event Production Company in the South African Tourism Pavillion at the IMEX Exhibition (the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events) in Frankfurt, Germany, promoting South Africa as an ideal conference and event venue.

"At the time of IMEX, South Africa was ranked 21st in the world as a conference and event host country. With SA Tourism our aim was to bring South Africa into the top ten. It was our responsibility at this Exhibition to entice key decision makers in business, NGOs and governments to bring their conferences and events to South Africa," says Ashwin.
