IT infrastructure roadshow for Joburg

The IT Infrastructure roadshow will feature presentations by industry leaders and discussions on the latest trends and deployments of infrastructure technologies among key IT professionals in South Africa. Delegates will also benefit from industry insights derived from IDC's 43 years of experience analysing ICT markets.

According to Jyoti Lalchandani, the regional VP and MD of IDC MEA, IT users in the region are increasingly looking beyond the mere acquisition of servers and storage, and are instead gravitating towards a more holistic view that brings into focus the optimization of systems, integration with business processes, and returns on investment.

“Globally, increased IT infrastructure demands are driving a transition to new technologies such as multi-core processors and server virtualisation," says Lalchandani, "while the rules of traditional backup, recovery, and archiving are being redefined.”

Virtualisation a key issue

A key issue to be discussed at the event – and of special interest to large enterprise users with distributed processes and heavy IT investment – is virtualisation. Industry experts will be on hand to discuss the benefits and how users can set priorities to adopt it as well as consolidate and simplify their server and storage infrastructure.
