Empowering South Africa's future

South Africa's corporate arena is an incredibly competitive space where businesses strive for the betterment of society through equality. At 20 years of democracy, the nation has flourished remarkably in the areas of transformation and the empowerment of its people. The 13th Annual Oliver Empowerment Awards distinguishes the excellence in businesses that have furthered the country in economic empowerment, inclusion, and transformation since South Africa's liberation.

Brought to you by Topco Media and Impumelelo publication, the 13th Annual Oliver Empowerment Awards is South Africa's most prestigious business awards ceremony taking place on 25 April 2014 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg. The Awards recognise and honour the nation's leaders in business transformation and empowerment with category sponsors such as Transnet, Business Report, G4S, and Tumi.

Judges to adjudicate the award ceremony include Microsoft South Africa's CEO Mr Mteto Nyati, Government Communications Information Services' Chief Director Mr Donald Liphoko, South African Bureau of Standards' (SABS) Chief Executive Officer Dr Bonakele Mehlomakhulu, ABSA Wealth and Investment Management's Chief Executive Ms Nomkhita Nqweni, amongst other noteworthy persons.

By engaging in transformation policies, like broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BEE), businesses create an avenue for the inclusivity of people from a variety of different cultures and social backgrounds. The 13th Annual Oliver Awards recognises businesses that lead in social responsiveness and aim to create diversity within the workplace.

"We are honoured to have been awarded the prestigious Diversity Award at the Oliver Empowerment Awards," says Lion of Insurance CEO Adam Samie, "The Awards speaks to the many business possibilities that exist within South Africa and empowers the business community".
