TEDxSoweto 2013 on this Saturday
The independently organised event, licensed by TED, features 22 remarkable people, from Johannesburg and beyond, in talks and performances set to illustrate that no matter how high the obstacle, how deep the problem, or how complex the situation, the human mind will keep asking questions until it finds answers.
The lineup, includes
Ridwan Mia, the plastic surgeon best known for successfully reconstructing young Pippie Kruger and Celiwe Maseko's skin
Rolie Nikiwe, director of the successful TV show 'Intersexions' and the critically acclaimed film 'Nothing for Mahala'
Sandile Ngcobo, inventor of the digital laser
Tshepo Sithole-Modisane, one half of the couple said to be first gay men to be married in a traditional ceremony in rural KwaZulu-Natal.
According to TEDxSoweto convenor, Kelo Kubu, the organisers are expecting "a diverse audience of curious souls and open minds and others interested in the space between ideas, the connections that make groundbreaking thinking possible. Many will come from Soweto, but most will come from everywhere else in the greater Johannesburg area - Sandton, Alexandra, Houghton, Lenasia, etc."

Cost of attendance is R500 for a standard ticket and a discounted R250 for NGOs and students. A few tickets are still available. Get yours here.
