TeenZone eases into the Top 5 at Generation Next Awards
The youth of South Africa voted TeenZone into the Top 5 coolest brands in the magazine category of the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards 2013.
TeenZone claimed fourth spot in the Overall Coolest Magazine category, preceded only by Top Gear, You and Drum magazines. To place a second feather in their cap, in the Coolest Female Magazine category TeenZone came in second, only led by You magazine.
"To give some perspective of the competition and TeenZone's second and fourth positions, here are some other brands that respectively claimed second and fourth positions in their categories: BMW and Woolworths, 5FM and YFM, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabana, and WhatsApp and MXit," says TeenZone editor Dominique Drake.
This year's Sunday Times Generation Next was the ninth annual brand survey. The survey incorporated the views of over 6,000 young South Africans (eight to 22 years old) across seven provinces. Commenting for Sunday Times, Trevor Ormerod said: "The Generation Next Awards are always a highlight in the media and business calendar alike. It's always exciting and insightful to see how much brand loyalty already exists within the youth. They do, after all, shape the products of the future."
Targeted at the youth
The question is whether you can afford to not use TeenZone as a channel for your product and brand? TeenZone is targeted at all the youth of South Africa, offering them a vibey, original and unique magazine filled with lifestyle information, covering teen-related issues, relationship advice, celebs (international and local), movies, music and much more. TeenZone is a magazine for teens, by teens, as they are frequently consulted with regards to content and contribute editorially towards the magazine as well.
The magazine's landscape has changed quite a bit over the last 13 years, but TeenZone has definitely stayed abreast of how their market consumes media. Some interesting numbers include:
22,738 Facebook fans
1,801 Twitter fans
Website figures for the last twelve months are 177,086 page views and 22,174 visitors (with an average of 3,321 visitors per month)
