Drum appoints new editor
Willem Breytenbach, publisher of Drum, said, "She has the proven ability to convert market trends and analysis into relevant content and increase sales. She has also proven repeatedly her ability to put together and motivate teams, effectively manage operations under the extreme deadline pressure of weekly publications and build brand loyalty among magazine readers."
For Zwane-Siguqa, a big part of her decision to join the magazine was its diverse editorial offering and place in history. "For generations it has been part of black families' heritage. It's an iconic brand that has played a significant role in establishing great writers - both literary and investigative - and introduced the world to black writing talent in South Africa. I look forward to being part of this brand, to develop new relationships with its readers and to make this magazine the chosen brand for readers in South Africa," she said.
"We'll be taking it beyond being just a magazine to being the voice of the new-age South African black in an intercultural, diverse and integrated society."
