Sabbatical for Di Paice, Brand magazine

Brand magazine has been suspended with immediate effect by its board while founder, editor and publisher Di Paice, who has been fighting cancer for three years, takes a much-needed sabbatical, it was announced today, Tuesday, 7 October 2008.

“The stress of running the business in difficult times, coupled with eight months of continuous chemotherapy this year, has taken its toll,” says Paice. “I owe it to my loved ones and to myself to take time to heal.

“It has been a hard decision to take. I love Brand and am immensely proud of what we have achieved in three short years,” she says. “In our first year of publication we won the Professional Services category in the business-to-business section of the PICA Awards, the country's premier publishing awards. We broke even in our second year, and won the Watling Trophy for the Business-to-Business Magazine of the Year.

“I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues and our advertisers for the fantastic support they have given us since our very first issue, and the faith they showed in a pioneering publication. It's been a great journey and we are leaving the window open for its resumption.”
