The 5 ways smart marketers balance brand and performance

The intention is both to signal Wiel’s fun, unconventional style of publishing and, on a practical level, to boost sales, according to editor Ferdi de Vos. The issue should become a collectible for serious motoring enthusiasts, many of whom will want to buy both editions in order to have the combined set.
“While a gatefold cover has been done before, to the best of our knowledge this is the first time two covers have been printed for one magazine, which together comprise one picture.
“It is also the first time Wiel has decided to go the unusual route of putting a rally car on a motoring magazine not dedicated to motor sport,” adds De Vos.
The cover highlights the issue’s focus on the 2007 motor rally season. The magazine has a 12-page section profiling the drivers and previewing the cars, rules and regulations.
There is a bonus read with the April issue: added value comes in the form of an F1 Guide, a comprehensive stand-alone supplement detailing the Grand Prix teams and drivers, race schedule and venues for the season.
The April issue of Wiel went on sale on 19 March.
