Bicycling goes mountain biking
Bicycling magazine's new mountain-bike specific magazine, Mountain Bike, will be available on South African newsstands from tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 November 2006, free with the December issue of Bicycling. Mountain Bike is already an established international magazine title in the US and Germany.
The 40-page extension of Bicycling magazine will be launched as a two-issue pilot free with the December 2006 and the April 2007 issues of Bicycling.
Comments Tim Brink, editor of Mountain Bike, "Mountain biking has its own vibe and language - almost a separate culture within cycling - and the need for a magazine that talks this dialect has been growing. Our readers have told us so, and we have just been waiting for the right time to launch. With a strong response from the mountain bike community, we are planning to up the offering to a quarterly frequency in 2007/8."
Mountain Bike will be edited by Bicycling's award-winning editorial team, led by experienced mountain bikers Brink and Sean Badenhorst, who are reported to be thrilled to be able share their love for the sport with others.
With access to international content and a knowledgeable local influence, Mountain Bike aims to speak directly to South African mountain bikers who are interested in reading in-depth and useful information. Mountain Bike delves into the core topics including gear, maintenance, skills and where to ride, all presented with a local voice with the aim of improving not only the mountain biker's ride, but also their quality of life.
